Family Camp

Our Family Camp Program is a 3-day residential camp for families affected by a bleeding disorder. The camp has as its mission to positively impact and enrich the lives of children and families affected bleeding disorders by offering a camp experience, in a medically safe and educationally supportive environment while promoting personal growth, self-worth, self-reliance and creativity through activities and the development of personal relationships that will carry over to their daily lives and throughout their lifetime.

Our organization has concentrated in Family Camp as a champion program since most camps throughout the country do not allow for children affected with a bleeding disorder to attend due to the specific medical need and risk associated with participation, therefore, this is in many cases their only chance to be involved in a meaningful camp experience, which also presents educational opportunities related to their disease state. Our focus at family camp is to improve communication skills between families, expand on the importance of medication adherence, and more importantly teach children affected by a bleeding disorder how to properly self-infuse and allow them to become self-reliant on their treatment.

In 2021, WVNHF will be transitioning to a new camp facility at Camp Twin Creeks in Marlinton, WV to better assist with Kids Camp which happens at the same location. You can see the camp map below.
